Ant Steel — aka ANTS — doesn’t just paint walls. He tells stories you can feel in your chest.

Raised under the hot African sun, Ant fell in love with drawing before he could spell his name. Cartoons and creatures filled his early sketchbooks, but the world outside those pages would go on to shape him in far deeper ways. As a young man, Ant served in a specialist unit in the South African Navy before entering the high-stakes world of VIP close protection — living on the edge in the planet’s most dangerous cities, sitting face-to-face with drug lords, warlords, and ghosts in the shadows.

Through it all, he remained an artist — storing emotions like film reels in his mind, waiting for the right wall to project them on.

Today, Ant is best known for his street murals: bold, layered, and soaked in atmosphere. His preferred medium — aerosol — is as unforgiving as it is thrilling, made even more so by the wind, the rain, and the sheer madness of painting four-storey buildings while the world watches. His work blends the rebellion of street art with a meditative intensity he calls “Rebellion Therapy” — art that stirs your senses while lifting you out of the dark.

Nature plays a huge role in his vision, along with trance pioneers Above & Beyond, who’ve been the soundtrack to more murals than he can count. And while he once ran a full animation studio, crafting entire worlds frame by frame, his current work is less about the pixel and more about the pulse — evoking emotion through colour, shape, texture, and raw human energy.

Whether it’s a face that feels like it’s lived a hundred lives, or a floral motif whispering a secret from the past, every piece carries weight. A warrior’s spirit. A protector’s heart. A street poet’s soul.
